ROBERT WALTERS UK JOBS INDEX – Q3 2017
- The number of advertised secretarial and support jobs in the UK doubled in the third quarter of 2017 compared to the same time last year.
- “North shoring” has driven high levels of demand for secretarial and support professionals in the North West
The latest Robert Walters UK Jobs Index has revealed that secretarial and support vacancies have risen across the UK, with the number of jobs available in the third quarter of 2017 double that seen over the same period last year.
Despite economic and political uncertainty surrounding Britain’s departure from the EU, employers have continued to expand, creating demand for secretarial and business support staff.
Gill Owen, Manager at Robert Walters, comments:
“Business expansion has driven ongoing demand for secretarial and support specialists, with the highest demand for PAs and EAs at the executive and exco levels.”
“Candidates with experience have also been highly sought after to fill team secretarial roles among businesses which are looking to build pools of cross functional staff.”
“NORTHSHORING” DRIVES DEMAND IN THE NORTH WEST
Demand has been particularly high for business support professionals in the North West, driven by large multinational firms establishing mid and back office teams in the region.
Gill Owen continues:
“With large multinationals continuing to grow mid and back office teams in the North West at shared service centres, demand for business support specialists in the region has continued to rise.”
“Particularly at the senior end of the market, employers are taking active strides to retain talent through counter offers. This is particularly true in the case of candidates who can demonstrate industry experience and a broad skill set, where their role expands into project management and business development.”
