Dateline – Summer 2023
Back in August 2023, tech giant Zoom – almost everyone’s Work-From-Home favourite application of the lockdown era – ordered their staff to return to the office – see BBC News article https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-66432173.
“The firm said it believed a “structured hybrid approach” was most effective and people living within 50 miles (80km) of an office should work in person at least twice a week.”
The article also refers to a Stanford University researchers survey (July 2023) that found:
12% of Full-Time Employees were operating Fully Remote; 59% Full-Time on Site; 29% Hybrid Arrangement
Snapshot – Spring 2024
As we get set to advance our clocks for Spring 2024, circa six months later, another BBC News article (What a $1 deal says about America’s office market – BBC News) suggest that in New York, USA, “just 12% of Manhattan’s office workers are estimated to be showing up in person five days a week.”
Event Professionals
The latest survey by Northstar Meetings Group, First Look Research, sponsored by IHG Group, suggests ‘remote working is now a permanent fixture for event professionals’ (see Remote Possibilities | Association Meetings International (amimagazine.global), and goes on to say:
Only 6% of Employers operating Hybrid during pandemic have switched back to Full-Time on Site;
Current profile being: 13% are now full-time office based; 26% Work-From-Home; 60% Hybrid – with 2 to 3 days per week in the office.
Hybrid here to stay?
Looks like variations of ‘Hybrid’ has become the rising trend – will this continue to be the preferred choice for everyone – employees, employers and all interested stakeholders?
