Teenagers invited to office during summer holidays
Employees at UK Power Networks took their teenagers into the office for an educational day during the summer holidays.
The summer school initiative is part of the company’s ongoing activities to encourage more young people to progress careers within Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
The event took place in the school summer holidays across the company’s three network areas; London, the South East, and the East, gave parents and their 13-17 year olds the chance to see how the industry and company works to keep communities’ power flowing.
The teenagers took part in an interactive ‘Circuit Street’ workshop designed to ‘spark’ interest in the electrical energy sector while giving hands-on technology experience.
Natasha Paramasamy, STEM outreach specialist, said: “Our new summer school initiative is a great opportunity for colleagues to bond with their children and give the kids an insight into what their parents do every day! Through activities and workshops, parents and their children will be able to create memories through engaging and educational activities.”
