BMA House focuses on filming market after 900% increase in enquiry value
Enquiries for filming and photography business at BMA House since Covid have grown dramatically, with confirmed business including its use as a location by Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon Prime, BBC and ITV.
“Prior to 2020 we had occasional enquiries as a filming location, and we realised the potential we had with such a beautiful building and gardens. We saw an opportunity and the team wanted to go for it,” comments Kat Winfield, BMA House’s Venue Manager. “Following a sustained focus, including the development of specialist packages, marketing collateral and dedicated sales resource, we saw 50 enquires for £750k deliver nine confirmed bookings last year. These included several high-profile shows, for leading production companies.”
Nestled in the heart of central London, BMA House is an ideal location for a variety of shoots. As a Grade II listed building, designed by architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, it is steeped in history. Surrounded by a wealth of iconic landmarks it offers excellent transport links and a variety of spaces including: The Courtyard, Garden, Great Hall and Prince’s Room, not to mention the buildings incredible facade, which offers a fantastic backdrop.
Cécile Howard, LMGI – Assistant Location Manager (Netflix – The Diplomat) said: “BMA House at Tavistock Square is a fantastic location with great filming spaces from the courtyard, gardens, offices, events spaces and even a disused bank! From the initial scout to filming, the Events team has been incredibly accommodating, responsive and patient as our shoot requirements developed. During filming, their events liaison, on-site security and FM team were superb in assisting our on-the-day requests. I would happily recommend BMA House for filming and/or crowd-basing and hope to return for future projects.”
Additional benefits of filming at BMA House include:
- Exclusive access
- Convenient parking
- Secure storage
- Flexible spaces
- Efficient logistics
- Power availability
- Catering
Tom Mellish Bad Wolf Studios (Red Eye) concludes: “The Courtyard and Courtyard Garden at the BMA are hidden gems in London, especially as filming locations. From the initial enquiries to the final shoot day, the events team at the BMA were fantastic. They were clear with their parameters whilst being responsive and patient with our fast paced and ever-changing environment in the Film and TV industry. I wouldn’t hesitate to offer up BMA House at Tavistock Square as a multi-use site for filming again.”
